Choose Your Weapon!

There are many choices when it comes to charting software.  What you first need to do, is determine your needs by defining your trading strategy and then see which charting software supplies those needs in a medium that is acceptable.  Do you need it on your local drive?  Do you want to use a browser based version, so that you can access it from different computers?  Do you need a trading platform built it?  Does it allow you to build your own indicators, if it doesn't have the ones you need?  Will it perform back testing?  Will it search for stocks based upon my criteria?  How much does it cost?  These are some of the basic questions that must be answered.  Many online brokers provide stock charting on their sites, although, most lack the more advanced capabilities.

Below are a small list of sites that provide stock charting software that you may wish to check out.  You can find many more on the web.  First on the list, is my personal favorite, Amibroker.  It is extremely versatile, very reliable, performs searches, back testing, fairly priced and provides excellent customer support.

Happy hunting.
